Ski base layers are the very first layer you put on when you’re getting ready to ski, under your mid-layer and your main outer ski clothing. Also known as women's thermals, this layer is designed to keep you warm while also wicking sweat and keeping you comfortable while you’re out on the slopes. To achieve this sweat-wicking, they'd usually be made from either wool or nylon. Our women's ski base layers are mostly nylon, known for their durability and moisture wicking, as well as helping to keep you warm. So, when you’re heading skiing, get yourself a set of ski base layers, usually consisting of a long-sleeved top and leggings.
We’d recommend washing all of our women's ski base layers on a 30-degree wash, then allowing them to air dry. This helps to keep them in the best condition possible so you can enjoy them year after year!
Depending on how advanced of a skier you are, we’d recommend packing between 2 and 4 sets of ski base layers for a week of skiing. If you’re a very advanced skier, will be skiing for most of the day, and will be getting sweaty on the slopes, you’ll likely want to swap into new ski base layers more often. For those of you who are relatively new to skiing and are finding your feet, then you may not need as many. Of course, if you have washing facilities on your ski trip, just take two sets and then you can wash them as you go.
In our opinion, nylon is the best material for ski base layers, as it’s sweat-wicking, warm and comfortable, so there will be nothing holding you back when you’re out on the slopes. It’s also easy to care for and durable, so it will last you for many ski seasons to come. Another popular choice for base layers is wool.
