Bo+Tee’s Guide to Choosing Positive New Year’s Resolutions

Step 1: Review Your Year

The first step in our guide to choosing positive New Year’s resolutions is to look back and review your recent year. Think about what went well, what didn’t go so well, what you learned and what you’d like to learn.

Make a note of these things and try to spot any opportunities for personal growth and improvement. This should help you find the perfect area to focus your New Year resolution on.

Step 2: Be Realistic

When you’re coming up with your New Year's resolution you want to make sure that you set a goal that’s realistic and achievable, otherwise you’ll feel deflated and unmotivated. For this, we’d recommend thinking about what you have planned in the coming year and the time you’ll have to focus on your New Year’s resolution, which takes us nicely onto step 3…

Step 3: Create a Timeline

Once you have a few options for possible New Year’s resolutions in mind, start to think about how you can plot them into a timeline throughout the upcoming year. This is one of the most important steps in our guide to choosing positive New Year’s resolutions as you need to make sure you actually have the time to achieve your goal.

By plotting your positive New Year’s resolution into a timeline throughout the year, this will not only help you remain focussed but it’ll also help you achieve your goals and reap the benefits of success!

Step 4: Design a Vision Board

Lastly, here at Bo+Tee we love designing annual vision boards! By the time you reach this step in our guide to choosing positive New Year’s resolutions you should have reviewed your year, made sure your options are realistic and plotted your final resolution into an annual timeline.

Now, in our opinion, the fun part can start! To design a vision board you should pull together images of all of the things you want to happen in the upcoming year. These can be anything from tiny goals to huge dreams but make sure you include them all. Once you have all of the images, collage them all together into one visual artboard (you can do this in Photoshop or on Canva). Then voila! You’ll have your very own annual vision board.

We’d recommend setting this as your phone lockscreen so that you’re regularly viewing it and your goals are always at the forefront of your mind.
