The Ultimate 8-Step Morning Routine

Step 1: Go to bed on time

Being able to get up in the morning starts with getting to sleep on time. The first step in our ultimate morning routine is to try and get 8+ hours of sleep per night and you’ll be less likely to hit that snooze button in the AM.

If you find it hard to wind down at night then we’d recommend checking out our Self-Care Evening Routine to get you in the rhythm.

Step 2: Give yourself enough time

Instead of waking up and rushing to get ready and get to work, uni or college, try to give yourself enough time in your morning routine. This’ll help to reduce any unwanted stress and means you’ll have time to enjoy your morning.

Step 3: Stay hydrated

It can be tempting to wake up and head straight for coffee but try to have a glass of water first. When you’re creating your ultimate morning routine, start with a medium sized glass of water to combat any dehydration then enjoy your usual tea or coffee. Your body will thank you for it!

Step 4: Make time for skincare

Skincare is one of our favourite forms of self-care, that’s why it’s an important step in our ultimate morning routine. Give yourself an extra 10-20 minutes each morning to do your favourite skincare routine. Not only will you be glowing on the outside, but you’ll be glowing on the inside too!

Step 5: Don’t skip breakfast

We can all be guilty of waking up late and running out the door in a hurry, forgetting about breakfast. There’s lots of things you can do to make sure you give yourself time in your morning routine for breakfast.

Why not try some meal prep ideas? We love overnight oats in the morning. These can be made the night before and are a super healthy way to start your day. We’re also a big fan of High Energy Breakfast Smoothies as they’ll keep you feeling full and alert throughout your morning.

Step 6: Prioritise exercise

Working out doesn’t always need to take 1+ hours. We know time can be tight, especially during the working week but when it comes to the ultimate morning routine, it’s important to fit in some form of exercise when you wake up.

This could be a short walk near where you live with your morning coffee, a 15 minute HIIT workout or some simple stretching before your skincare routine. This’ll help to focus your mind, battle morning fatigue and reduce stress.

Step 7: Write a to-do list

Dedicate some time in your morning routine to write out a to-do list of your priorities for the day. Try not to overwhelm yourself with a list of absolutely everything you need to do that week, instead write out the key priorities for the day. This’ll help to keep you motivated throughout the day and you’ll feel a great sense of satisfaction as you finish the day with everything ticked off.

Step 8: Listen to music or a podcast

If you commute to work then start your day with your favourite podcast or playlist, if you work from home then you could listen to either when you’re eating breakfast. This is the final step in our ultimate morning routine but is still super important!

By taking time to listen to music or a podcast in your morning routine you’re allowing yourself to feel creative, inspired and determined. Choose a playlist or podcast that helps drive motivation and you’re setting yourself up for a successful day.
