Keep scrolling below for some helpful tips on creating mental health habits, advice on relieving stress, eating well, making time for you and our all-time fave podcasts and playlists...
#1. Relieving Stress
If you’re asking us, one of the best mental health habits to relieve stress is to get your body moving. Whether you’re a keen gym goer or not, the benefits of exercise on your mental health and wellbeing are second to none.
If you’re struggling from gym anxiety or you prefer to workout alone, why not throw on your favourite activewear set, stick your headphones in and go for a run, or walk. Even just getting yourself out of the house, away from a screen and breathing fresh air will do you the world of good for your mental health.
Ever heard of the term ‘Hot Girl Walk’? If not, don’t worry! You need to check out our dedicated blog post and find out how you can level up your 1 hour walks today.
Our next favourite mental health habit to relieve stress would have to be cooking or baking, which brings us nicely onto our next section…
#2. Eating Well
Not only does eating well have lots of physical health benefits, it also impacts on your mental health too! That doesn’t mean only eating salads every day for the rest of your life because let's be honest; who wants that?
To keep your mental health habits in check try to have a little bit of everything in moderation. If you’re struggling for ideas then check out or meals by Jess Tedds (justjessfood). Or students, we’ve got the perfect budget-friendly recipes just for you!
#3. Make Time For You
…you deserve it! It’s time to start putting yourself and your mental health habits first, set your yearly goals, write down your gratitudes and most importantly, do what makes you happy!
We’d recommend making yourself a self care hamper, fill it with your favourite bath bombs, face masks, books, magazines, skincare and anything else you enjoy using on those days just for you. For some more inspo on how to spend your self care day’s head over to our dedicated blog post today.
#4. Podcasts and Playlists
For our next mental health habit, instead of that usual 9pm TV show, why not stick on a podcast or your favourite playlist, light a candle and take some time out for yourself.
There’s loads of mental health podcasts out there to contribute to better mental health habits, but our top 3 would have to be:
- Let’s Talk About Mental Health (educational)
- Teenager Therapy (educational)
- The Girls Bathroom (feel-good)
Give all 3 a listen and let us know what you think. The Girls Bathroom podcast hosts, Sophia & Cinzia, are sure to give you that feel-good factor in no time. But, if podcasts aren’t the mental health habit for you, then why not try an upbeat or soothing playlist.
Check out our official Bo+Tee Spotify (and make sure to follow!) where you’ll find lots of playlists to suit every mood. Or, another upbeat playlist we’re loving right now is ‘The Bop List’, also on Spotify. We’d recommend this one when you’re out for your daily walk, it’s sure to get your heart rate going.
If you’ve tried all of the mental health habits above and you’re still feeling under the weather then make sure you chat to your closest friends and family, or a qualified professional. There are lots of support services available 24 hours per day to help when needed, and you should never underestimate the power of peer support. After all, a problem shared is a problem halved.
